John McComas Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 (edited) Running 30" belt drive whole house attic fan without the windows wide open??? (Two speed running on low) How bad is this to do? We do it when boiling spiced shrimp. Maybe run for half hour with a few windows only open about 4". (The cayenne pepper tears us up) Is this an issue of concern? Thank you! Stan Adams Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 You are good as long as you have a few windows open. When I was a kid without A/C in humid Houston, to sleep at night we would open the windows about 4 -6 inches with a 42" attic fan. It would make the bedsheet stand up. Too much negative pressure & you will draw in sewer gas. Small 30" fan on low won't have enough power to damage anything. 1 Quote
Rod Rogers Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 With significant negative pressure, you can also draw in carbon monoxide from something like a gas water heater. ~Sparky~ 1 Quote
