Hello fan friends. I’m wondering if GE ever made a blue spruce 12. Every time when someone shows me one it’s mist grey. Are they basically the same?

Others more knowledgeable chime in, but Grey Mist is blue. Why they called it Grey, no clue, it's definitely the standard Vortalex blue color. Vortys did come in an actual Grey color later, don't know what they called it. Blue Spruce, never heard of that name for a color for Vortys.

Arjun I think this may be a 12in spruce blue. It's the only image I was able to find.

I believe 1950 only was a different color than later versions, it still carried the old cage mount style, later versions changed the cage & mounting system a bit

1949-50

mist grey. Or what other say. Gray mist. I’ve never ever in my life seen a spruce blue. All I’ve seen is gray mist. And people call that blue spruce.2752A593-C584-4B68-BE75-8000689BE96A.thumb.jpeg.c2dda5f3f4e88d023c90599df151fd4f.jpeg

I thought mine was spruce blue but it’s gray mist.

So your looking for the bottom fan pictured, before 1950 I’ve only seen the tan bladed fans, I had a 1950 with the small badge & that color with that cage . Later years mount to the front , like the top 2 in the above pics

I’m starting to think there may not have been a 12in blue spruce I had no luck finding any previously sold. I also realized the photo I sent was the mist gray and not spruce blue.

Didn’t the 10 inch ones were blue spruce and mist gray

I'm pretty sure this was the last style for the 10in model after this I haven't seen them in the other color schemes. But take my word with a grain of salt because I am going off of what I have seen previously sold online.

I always thought the fans on the left were blue spruce and the fans on the right were mist grey. But what do I know, I'm an Emerson guy. The fans are either black or French Grey (which is just a dirty white, let's be honest).

I'm going to stray for a bit, and answer your "where" question Arjun, then get back on topic... the topic(s) being the blue tint and "when"...

I put together a couple displays at the Edison Tech Center, Schenectady NY; the one you asked about is 2015's, and I first did so in 2012, having had success in another window displaying street lights, another subject...

          Here are the 2012 Fans

By 2015 I wanted to do so again, a bit more themed than before. Fan Collector Magazine had recently featured Vortalex images, so that cover went right into the display.

     Check out the (blue) gray

Arjun is on to something with blue spruce or spruce blue,

as pointed out in TomZ's post...

I'd view that as the final word; I trust the source...

Here they are with natural lighting indoors

Knowing how paints react differently exposed to sunlight (search any Charleston Green/ GE Pittsfield thread), I could easily believe the fans appeared less blue originally. (We've all checked the underside or screened portions of fans for "true" color.) It's probably worth considering that we view color in relation to surroundings-- different surroundings, different color for the same object.

Oh Yeah, before I forget, knowing how keen AFCA observers are, yes, the threads on the giant light bulb are left-handed... must have been April Fool's Day or close to it...

As to which models were available and when, the record needs more catalog information to be certain or comprehensive, but Arjun it looks like that may be where you're headed........
