Waiting for my order to arrive to judge the quality of the print before I proceed with a new company to supply my needs.  As soon as it gets here, I will let you know.

I bought all of Bill Hoehn's Collar oscillator to test them out with the new parts.  Will post a video as soon as I have the parts in hand.  The cone that is arriving is the final version.

The gears from Shapeways are slowly making its way to me.  If the new company proves fruitful, I will move my production line over to save on cost and time.

I need to hold off on orders for now.  The parts are good to go but the prices are wildly fluctuating due the economy.  I can not bring myself to charging inflated price for simple parts.  For example, last night I received my steel nose cone and it originally was 75 US.  It was good and the old gears sat it it perfectly just like the original.  I wanted to order another one but the price is now 211 US.  No need to worry....the drawing is done and it is good to go....when the prices come back to reasonable, I will let you know.

Just received message from the print company.  I suspect it has to do with Chinese New Year.  I will hold off till after 1/22 to place an orderr.

Gears from Shapeways also came in today.  Teeth on gear is very nice and strong.  I will order some after the 28th when prices should go down.

I think a tumbler will do the trick into smoothing it out and making the gear smooth.  It is my hope that gears can be made this way which will open up a lot of gears related problem.

I'd be interesting in getting a rough set and see how lapping them in on my lathe/mill would turn out,   I also have a tool grinder that could give the worm a nice finish,  since its made to sharpen complex milling cutters

I'm going with the easier route for me since I don't have those tools....I will use a tumbler for the gears.  The gears do not really need milling of any sort...just polishing to make them smooth..."break them in".  The cone does not need lapping of any sort just tapping the screw holes...I already check the fit and clearance and it is good to go.  Prices should drop after the 1/28 (A lot of people are off on Holiday for Lunar New Year).

Yeah,  I would just be concerned that enough tumbling to smooth out the gears would wear the edges wrong,  and I was talking about lapping the gears together, not running the case.  pretty much run them in a stronger machine with lapping compound on them so they smooth themselves out and run together.

I would love to see it compared to a tumbler.  I have no experience in lapping or tumbling.

I did check the price recently on brass...a tad high but reasonable for expensive collar fans.  I will most likely get myself a brass one for a six blade and the rest will be plain steel.

Cone is ready for release.  The fit is good and the old gears will sit just fine in the housing.  The cover sits perfectly over the top and is aligned with all the holes.  The bronze bearing can be purchase off the shelf on Amazon.  I still need to do some more testing before releasing the new gears....need to get a tumbler.

Any feedback on the beta?

The cone is done.  Just taking a break before ordering some more.  The gears are ready but need to wait....need to purchase a tumbler.

The old gears fit in just fine in the new cone and the bronze bearing is readily available on eBay.  Taking a break to work on some badge work currently.

Let me know if you want to order.
