Ken McClead
Does anybody know who made this fan? It has a blade diameter of approximately 40" and the individual blades are bolted onto the spider which is somewhat strange. Also someone put a 1 hp motor in it at one time which seems way oversized for the fan rpm (calculated to be around 280 rpm). I am thinking on changing the motor pulley from a 2" diameter to a 4" diameter since the motor is way oversized. Would this hurt? Thanks!
Stan Adams
I used to have that exact fan, mine had no name on it either. Do not put a 4" motor sheave on it, those blades will be short lived at that speed. You might try a 2.25 or a 2.5. No way I would go over a 2.5. Those blades were built for very low RPM.
Ken McClead
Stan, thanks for the info. I have an extra 1/2 hp 2 speed motor. Do you think it would be ok to use this motor in place of the 1 hp that came with fan? Also a 2" motor sheave produces 282 fan rpm and a 2.5" diameter sheave would produce 352 fan ram. The fan sheave is 12.25" in diameter. Any thoughts?
Stan Adams
You should be ok with 352, but I would not exceed that.
