Shes a beauty!!!

Even though I lean more towards the 6 wing residence fans from Emerson, this one is surprisingly smooth and quiet!

1310 I just pulled apart to investigate the start switch.

Not too hard to see the problem there! It done come apart! Jerry Bravi makes rebuild kits for those with new screws, washers, and springs.

All I do is dig out the bulk of the old grease then toss in the gear box and gears. 30 min later it comes out nice and clean. I use a mix of Simple Green and water. Does not hurt the Japan, even with the bath being heated.

This was on my to do list after Toms meet. Back to work and took sick on Friday.

Thought I was done but what can go wrong will showed its ugly head. Lesson learned on this finish I never expected.

Work in progress, Emerson 78646-BC wall mount Navy fan.

Purists look away now !    It’s on its way to my man cave soon.  (I hope)

A plethora of good info from those who know Emerson’s has helped immensely in me getting this far.   Runs great and quiet on both speeds.   Ruby Pearl was my choice, although I’m teetering on repainting the cage in silver, like the blade.  I left the original motor tag in place for two reasons.   First, I couldn’t get the stater out so I couldn’t get to the back of the rivets.   Second, even though I have a new shiny brass one, thanks to Mr. Coleman, I decided I liked the look of the original tag.  Plan on mounting the brass tag below the fan for presentation purposes.

Input welcome !

The stand is just a rough prototype.  “Proof of concept” type of thing.   planning on visiting the local metal superstore for some 1/2” aluminum plate, then down to a local machine shop that has the right tools to make it.   Wish I could find a way to put a ghost image on it, so I’ll probably see what a light chemical etching will do.  Wanted a faint naval scene on the aluminum.   Kind of a tribute to the WWII naval personnel who had these onboard their ship.

The concept for the stand was simple, I wanted to be able to move it around  rather than hard mounting it to a wall.   The aluminum one I’m planning to have made will be slightly smaller, sleeker, have an incorporated handle like the mock up, and the riser will be threaded holes for the base versus having to threaded inserts like I did on the wood one.   Plan on a hole for the power wire to go through the riser and have a couple of small brackets on the back to wind the power cord around both for storage and for use so I don’t have 8’ of cord hanging off the table.

Been a busy couple of weeks around here. Got a break, now, for a little while.

Three GE 10 wire cages, one more to go. Three blade and cage restores including nickel plating, and the rocket fan is now complete.

Reminds me of the times where I’m too cheap to afford one so I do it the ole fashioned way for about 2 hours

And the 27048 is off the work bench! Huge thanks to Tony Clayton for coming up with this "inspired" wire scheme! I had a section of scrap wire with subtle ticks. I wanted to mimic that idea for a lil added detail. Tony knocked it out of the park with this wire! Did my diy nickel plating on the oscillator wheel for some added shine. Buffed the original finish on the base and motor. Cage was previously repainted and still has a nice gloss, so I just cleaned and waxed it. Blued the hardware.

I'd don't normally work on fans when the weather's above freezing, as I have endless farm and outdoor work. But while I have at best a couple hours a day enough strength to be up and about right now (Lyme Disease got me good), I'm working on 'little' projects as I have the energy, to keep my mind occupied. But I'm mostly resting. 😬

Here's this morning's fun. I was prepared to put a torch to it as there were two screws that weren't going to budge, and the head on one was already stripped. But after they been soaking and occasionally tapped for a week or so, they went.

This is how I like to find 'em: barn fresh and crusty!I love the old 'farm repair' wood wedge on the ball-tensioner. I suspect, after I rechrome it, it'll work, especially if I cut a slightly larger inset steel crescent 'tooth' for the clamp.
