David Pierce
Would anyone have an idea of the date of manufacture for my 8 inch Robbins & Myers List No. 2835 with a DC motor operating at 32 Volts? Much Thanks, Dave Pierce

Bill Arfmann
There are many on the forum who know more than me. But I suspect it would have been manufactured in the 1920's, or at the latest, the early 30's. When George Norris (from Nebraska) and others pushed through the Congress rural electrification (a.c. lines into the country) these 32 volt d.c. fans were no longer profitable. Many went to landfills across the great plains, midwest and south. Do you happen to have a cage for your fan? It is a good one, in my opinion. Bill Arfmann
There is no doubt that our friend George would gladly take that fan off your hands, should you want to part with it!
David Pierce
Thank you for your informative reply. No, there is no cage and, as far as I know, never was There are screws on the motor housing at 12:00 and 6:00 behind the blades, where I believe one would mount. However, examining the finish/paint, there isn't a trace of any telltale marks. So I assume it never had a cage
Trevor Andersen
I believe that is late teens. Not the exact fan but it's close and the ad is from 1916. I think the 32v DCs disappeared around 1920. Edited March 17 by Trevor Andersen
Trevor Andersen
Here's an ad for the 8 inch 28xx fan from 1917. Says it is the first year the 8 inch 28xx is offered. So I'd say 1917-1921 on these. Range might be even smaller. Edited March 17 by Trevor Andersen
