Sean Sohns
Hello, I am new to antique fans. I have recently acquired an 1930s GE "CAT. 78X233" and decided to do a restoration on it. in reviewing other posts it is not as desirable and I should be looking for cast fans, but as I have already disassembled cleaned and prepped most of this for paint. I have decided to go through with it. I am stuck on one part in the oscillator gear box. The knob that engages and disengages the oscillation; I am unable to remove from the lower piece, I have attached an image of what I am describing. Does anyone have any idea on this? Malcolm MacGregor
I would clean the knob as best is possible, a wire wheel is good if you have one. Then polish it. Then I would tape it up with narrow (width) blue painters tape and paint your cover. I’ve done this many times. It’s also easier to paint attached to the base.
