Jeff Polk
Found a GE kidney for sale not far from me. Guy just found it at an estate sale and doesn’t know if it runs or anything. Kidney gearbox appears intact from the photos, I know these are susceptible to damage easily. Guy is asking $350 but is probably negotiable some on that. He measured it and says it’s a 16” model. Is this a good grab and stash, or is the asking price too much for a fan in unknown working condition?
Steve Butler
Seems reasonable to me if everything is there and working. 👍
Doug Wendel
It looks super-clean and original (under the dirt). It's rare to find one with an intact kidney. I'd say it's worth it. But be prepared for the kidney to crumble at any moment. It's probably wise to factor in the potential cost of a new kidney.
Doug Wendel
And if the transaction requires shipping, I think I would pass.
Steve Sherwood
I have had a couple of those. Both of them had issues with the pot metal oscillators. Most likely the mounting bracket for the oscillator will fall apart if you take the oscillator off. They are nice fans but the oscillator is crap.
