Brady Folsted Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 Looking for tips and tricks on removing the blades off this very large Emerson pedestal fan. I already removed two set screws and soaked it in wd-40 but she's stuck on there pretty good. Quote
Stan Adams Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 Make sure there is not another set screw. A bunch (most) of those K60s put two set screws in one hole. You take the two 90 degees apart out & think you have it, surprise, one more in the same hole. After that I wedge two screwdrivers between the blade hub & motor, then slowly work back & forth. Never failed me yet. Quote
Brady Folsted Posted May 1, 2024 Author Posted May 1, 2024 Stan Adams, I did get the blade off. Only two set screws thankfully. I appreciate your feedback and the follow up email. Thank you very much. 1 Quote

Steven P Dempsey Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 I have a spare "gull wing" blade for a K60, I like the elephant ears better!! Quote
Steven P Dempsey Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 Yes, I had a devil of a time removing blade!!! Quote
Greg Calmly Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 you can always try certain gear pullers, or if you just take some 2x4's or smaller pieces of wood you can place them in a way where you can hammer it and distribute the force evenly without bending or damaging anything. I did this for a P-47 and an S-23 and it works 100% everytime. This method also doesnt need WD-40 which you want to be careful because if that gets in your bearings, it wont end too well. Quote

There isn't a way to use a puller on these, because they aren't open in the front. As said, I've removed many of these with pickle forks; never had an issue. Quote
Greg Calmly Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 I knew a guy that just shoved flat head screw drivers between hub and motor assembly's then stood all over it and broke stuff. 😂 Quote
