Introduction and hello

Hello all. I just wanted to make an introductory post as a new forum guest. I'm new to the forum, but I have been a casual collector/restorer of fans and just about everything else mechanical or electrical for the last 30 years. I'm looking forward to learning from the seasoned collectors and newer folks alike.

As far as my collection, I don't really have anything that rare or spectacular compared to a lot of you guys, I'm sure. I've got three GE BMYs, a couple of Westy tanks, a couple of GE SMYs, a later Century skeletal, several GE AOUs, several stamped steel case Westys, and quite a few other more common fans from the '10s, '20s, and early '30s. My interest starts to wane after about 1932 or so, but there are a couple of exceptions, pre-WWII floor fans being one. I also have a couple of ceiling fans in the restoration queue.

I haven't had the fortune of encountering anything overly rare in my travels. About as close as I've come to finding anything on the low side of rare is two near-misses with GE pancakes in the wild. There's one near-miss from about 20 or so years ago that still haunts (or maybe taunts?) me to this day, but I guess we all have a story about the one that got away.

Anyway - thanks for approving me as a guest!

Welcome to the group!

I'm not far in York, PA and we are hosting a meet nearby on Sept 14th in Hallam, PA.  RSVP required.

Welcome to the zoo !   You’ll find the animals here are friendly, though a few are ornery like me.

Lots of valuable and interesting material here for members.  I encourage you to join.

Not sure what GE AOU’s you have, or how complete they are but I have parts for a 16” 1930 version if you need some.

Thanks to all for the welcome!

John - my AOUs are 12 inch and 16 inch and go from Form S to AF1. Luckily, they are all complete. About half have been functionally restored. I don't like to re-paint unless they are a total basket case. Thanks for the offer for parts, though!

Lane - thanks for the note about the York meet in September. Unfortunately, September and October are always a bad time for me with work. I'm all but guaranteed to be working or on the road for work every weekend both months. I'm also into coin operated items and have always wanted to make it to the White Rose Gameroom Show that's usually held in York in October, but I've never been able to go due to work commitments.
