Cameron Carlile Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 4 Blade Emerson Air Circulator. Had it rechromed. Clearly one side needed a lot of copper build. Played around with washers to see what the difference between the heaviest pair of blades. Found it to be around 30 grams difference. Has anyone ever tried just adding low profile, nickel-coated, neodymium magnets to balance the sides. It's chrome, so I don't really want to grind that much off one blade. Quote
Stan Adams Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 I would check to see if one is out of clock. If so the ones closest together will be heavy Quote
Cameron Carlile Posted May 25, 2024 Author Posted May 25, 2024 Stan: I'll buy a strobe light and see if that's problematic. Any thoughts on using N52 magnets? Quote
Stan Adams Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Never tried them, I would think if you added some epoxy or JB Weld, they should hold. You can check clock without a strobe, but admittedly it isn't easy nor as accurate. I balanced one I had bought for a friend in East Texas. At first it was about to fly off the pedestal it shook so hard. Quote
Rod Rogers Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 You should try balancing by "mis-clocking" the blades. On the light side, move the blades closer together. GE did this at the factory on some of their fans. You'd strobe a perfectly smooth running blade and find it "out of clock". Might be much easier than adding material! ~Sparky~ Quote
