Chris Argentino
Obviously anything pre 40s will have the least cage to it offering less protection. But what fans have the least protection (while still having a cage). I’m willing to bet nothing post 60s LOL I know that the old Westinghouse (pre 30s) offer little protection but then there’s Crocker wheeler fans from the early 1900s (picture attached). Even less than Westinghouse!

Steve Cunningham
The all brass Diehl. The cage spokes are very small.

Hahaha you’re right. How much do those fans tend to go for in working condition. More than the Westinghouse tanks?

George Durbin
Early models of fans I am guessing pre 20's the cages were an option...

Steve Cunningham
That’s a Polar Cub. The cage is steel. If the fan got knocked over, the cage and blade would be fine.

Jeff Rusnak
Probably any brass n brass fan from the late 1890’s.Most fans pre 1970 really had cages more for style and blade protecting !! The late 20’s thru 50’s were about the most stylish looking cages, plus most people had common sense then and didn’t stick their fingers into a fan !! “ LMAO “ Just my take on the subject !!
