David Kilnapp Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Hello friends. I need a better multimeter so I went to Amazon.com to buy one. There are a dizzying array of multimeters for sale. Then I thought I would ask my fan friends for a recommendation. So here's my ask. Please post a picture of your multimeter and why you like it. Needless to say, I will be using it to measure AC and DC voltage, resistance, amperage and continuity. Thanks in advance for your recommendation! Quote
Jim Kovar Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 My musings from the old forum, 12 years ago... https://afca.old.forum.com/multimeter-for-fans My old musings... and I'm sticking with 'em! Quote
Jim Kovar Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 (edited) All you'd ever need for silly old fan repair... Wow!,... nice big display,... but really?,... a 28 position rotary switch with micro writing. No thanks! Auto-ranging is what you'll want. Edited May 31, 2024 by Jim Kovar Quote
Jim Kovar Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Lead/probes with screw- on clips come in handy. 2 Quote
Patrick Ray Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Fluke. Period. Get a Fluke. Mine was handed down to me from my dad who was an engineer for Motorola. He loved it. Sometimes he would go old school with his analog Triplet meters (which I have those as well). But I love that Fluke for the ease of use and accuracy. 1 Quote

James Lawson Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Another vote for Fluke. I have a Fluke that has been my go-to meter for almost 30 years now and it's still serving me well. 1 Quote
John Landstrom Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 My Klein works for me just fine. But then again I’m a novice at using it, it has proved worthwhile. Quote
George Durbin Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 Early on I used the war horse Simpson 260... Now I am Fluke all the way! 1 Quote
Steve Sherwood Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 I am still using the Fluke I bought in 1987. Works like new. 2 Quote
John Fengel Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 This is my 1980 Radio Shack meter - Still works but the speaker is very weak for use on continuity. Quote
