My new (to me) bucket list fan isn't running so good.

I've always liked the idea of one of these table fans. I found one on FB marketplace local to me, and I pulled the trigger. When I tested it before purchasing from the guy, I tested it and found that only 1 of 3 speeds worked. And the 1 speed that was working was drawing 194 watts. So I quickly shut it down, and offered less. I knew that was waaay too much as my pedestal vornado in my shop with a much larger motor runs at less than that.  The cord coming from the wall into the switch was replaced, and when I got in there to look it was not pretty. I suspect that it was incorrectly wired back together, and I am hoping that is all that is wrong with it as it is in otherwise good shape. Each position on the switch itself feels solid. Would anyone have a wiring diagram for this? I know this will clean up really nice, but I want to prioritize getting it running right first.

Good luck with that. The speed coil is underneath the fiberglass top.  The top is glued on with a form of sticky, tarry caulk of sorts.

It’s nearly impossible to separate without ruining the paint or fiberglass. I restored 2 of them. I used a very thin xacto blade to slowly cut between the 2 pieces.  Took several hours as I recall.

That actually is really helpful - I was wondering what on earth the colored wires were when I opened the box containing the switch. Did you have to replace the speed coil?

They were both good on mine but the wiring was deteriorated and needed to be replaced, necessitating opening the fiberglass cover/
