We need your help here at the Museum. Over the years, collectors have passed away and if they had a fan or fans on display and their heirs decided to leave them here, they were tagged as 'In Memory Of" and put into whatever time line they fit. We've been thinking about having a display dedicated to those collectors who have passed away. If we have one of their fans, I would like to display it along with a picture of the collector. If we don't have an example, I will reach out to their loved ones to see if they'd be willing to put one on loan. There will be an honor roll list all of the members who have passed on, whether or not we have their fan.

Since I've been a member of the AFCA, joining back in 2001, we have lost friends and fellow collectors along the way. Names that I first heard about were Lawrence Erickson and Madison Bittner, both collectors that had died prior to my joining. I'm going to name who I can remember and then if all of you would add to that list any names that I have forgotten, it would be very much appreciated.

Jim Lindsey    Guinn Rigsby    Monty Young    Dave Evans     Stan Good    Jim Daggs    John Schrader    John Zwadyk    Jan Hendriks    Don Taussig    Jerry Henry    Steve Dempsey    Charlie Wicks    Bill LaFollette    Oscar Yoder    Don Floyd    Dan Morris   Corey Baugh    Ronnie Badon

I know there are many more, so if you will let me know, it would be so helpful. This is your Museum. Every fan in here belongs to a collector and member of the AFCA. I hope by doing this, we can honor those who made the AFCA and the Museum what it is today. Thank you. Kim

Kim,   I never knew him nor communicated with him, but for his love of Westinghouse Tanks the name James Guinn always stood out...

And again, did not know Fred Berry at all, but recognized his excellent taste in fans...

Thanks guys. I knew them all. I'm surprised I didn't remember them but half the time I'm lucky if I remember why I walked into a room. We have one of James fans on display, a Westy Tank badged by Dayton. He came over to the house when I lived in Florida. Tom Hammonds was going to selling me a coin op at the 2004 Fan Fair for $250 because it ran fine but wouldn't shut off. He was using it for white noise one night in his room when it did shut off. The next morning the price doubled for the fan...lol. I met Sidney at Wichita FF 2003. I asked him about how a GE pancake choke coil worked. He said for me to grab us a couple of beers and he would it explain it. And he did explain it perfectly. I met Fred at the Richmond meet in 2012.  Very nice man and had a passion for fans...as did all of the collectors mentioned.

Yes Arjun, Steve died last month. He visited the museum in April and put some fans on display. We will use those but thank you for the offer.

Does anyone know what will happen to his collection? There’s one fan that he has been holding onto for me for years! I would like to see if it’s still available as I’d to serve a memory to steve.

John Beard from Ohio.

Also I think Cory’s last name was Baughn if I recall. And it might be Corey, but I’m going from memory .

I remember when he came up missing, then the bad news came. He was a very enthusiastic collector who I enjoyed seeing post. I went back with a quick search. His name appears to be Richard "Cory"  Baughn. .

Wow this brings back so many fond memories. Paul Denney from Paris Texas & Bill Reynolds from Texas need to be added.

Thanks for the correction on Cory's last name. Yes, he was definitely an enthusiastic collector. John Beard, Paul Denney, and Bill Reynolds added to the memorial.
