Don Zurlinden Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 New to fan restoring. My Emerson 6250K just humms when I power it up. Stator has a red and black lead2, measures 42 ohms. No shorts to case. any ideas? Quote
Dave Hoatson Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 Is it a 3-wire stator coil with a start capacitor? If so, the capacitor may be bad. Does the blade turn freely by hand without and binding? If you push the blade in by hand and turn it, does anything drag? Repeat, but pulling the blade out. If so, the fiber shaft shims may be bad. Quote
Stan Adams Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 Since that is a shaded pole motor, you have a bad bearing causing the rotor to contact the stator. it is binding, or you have a bad stator. Those have a good stator, so closely check the other two items. 2 Quote
