I have a GE Kidney fan that has a slight rattle. I believe it's the rotor grazing the rear housing. I think a fiber washer or two will stop the noise. I removed the back cover and tried to remove shaft from oscillator gearbox but could not. As I tried to seperate the rear housung and oscillator from the main body the rotor came with it. I tried to hold the rotor in the body but it didn't seem to want to slide out of gearbox. I didn't try very hard because I did not want to damage anything. Can someone tell me how to put fiber washers on the rear shaft. I think if I get one or two on their it will cure that rattle.

Thanks

There is a screw that holds the worm gear to the shaft.  Release the screw from the worm gear first before backing off the shaft.

Ok. Where is the screw? Is it the one on the underside of oscillator?

The screw is on the worm gear on the back of the rotor shaft. Rotate the shaft until you see it. The worm gear comes off, the shaft comes out.

Does this mean I have to take apart or open up the oscillator gear box? Im assuming the worm gear would be inside the gearbox. Thought this would be an easy fix. My BMY rotors fall out. Lol.

Think of it as a BMY with an extended rotor shaft and a worm gear attached to the extended part.

remove the gearbox, then you’ll see the worm gear. Look for the setscrew like Russ said.

if the worm gear won’t come off. Try heating the gear a bit with a heat gun.

Best success!
