On my Hunter Century fan I have it together and it is working but the speed coil is on high all speeds. Must be a short. Its a two wire head system so not much to it. Is there anyway to use a coil resistor of some king to replace the speed coil? Its not really going to be easy to find a coil to replace this one.

Couldnt hurt to ohm out the coil to be sure.  Probably not too hard to rewind it.  Otherwise maybe a hefty resistor, will need to handle some heat.  Maybe a capacitor in series?

I got the fan back together. I the fan does slow on its second and third speed just not much. Without the fan blade on it it did not seem to work. Yes, they need the blade on them to notice much speed change.

Also, if you dial the voltage down to 110 you will notice a bigger speed difference.

Neat color paint job!

Its Iridescent paint by Rust Oleum. I used it on another fan with only the metal under it. This on has a lacquer base coat of black.

Funky,I like it!  I can imagine some later fans I would paint like this.  Probably I would go for cranberry.
