Vornado

Thanks to a tip from a fellow member I picked  up a little vornado locally.  I was going to just leave it alone but I had no other project going on and messed with it.  A lot harder to take apart than I thought it would be.   Paint removed with citristrip and scuffing pad very easily.  Sage gloss and burnished brass metallic baked on 200 for a few hours.  Bakelite cleaned up nicely with brasso.  Repaint lettering and reassemble.   I did not want to mess with repainting motor, however,  I will redo back cover. The sage color matched original color ( as seen underneath  ) amazingly wellScreenshot_20240915_154707_Facebook.thumb.jpg.08ba10db7dfca564a452c3b801400e6e.jpg20240915_154437.thumb.jpg.715884fa501ac02e962ee64551931fae.jpg20240915_154500.thumb.jpg.8efaa85c2fd88f533a0bd8e5cdc28eec.jpg20240915_154509.thumb.jpg.2fc564a52d14860f891bd37ecaad2c54.jpg20240915_154829.thumb.jpg.5a91581b1e58b372530224c846124ddd.jpg20240915_154604.thumb.jpg.e985ebc85338903f03d7c4c8f454d6fb.jpg

That looks stunning! I am definitely going to keep that paint in mind if I have to repaint my little one. Has a little surface rust on it so I would have to get that off first.

Citristrip and 400 wet or dry

They can be tricky to restore, but worth it in the long run. I had at one time the little guy all the way up to the 16" model. They pitch breeze like a professionally thrown fast ball right down the pipe. I am impressed with what you did with that little guy with rattle can. It looks nice. 🙂

Here is one with original finish I went through, cleaned, and polished that went bye bye years ago with original finish. It is one of two I bought at a garage sale northwest of you. 🙂

Probably in such good shape as they don't see the run time in Wisconsin that they would have in the South.

They were filthy when I bought them, I can see through filth to the good. Some people take real good care of their things. And that means "all" of their things. Even a silly fan.

Right place right time. Just like that Roadt guy appears to be doing🙂

Deal with it as the road unfolds ahead of you. Never panic.

The rate I’m going it will be in 50 years or so before I get to it.That equates to never.

That looks great! I love these fans and have been on the hunt for one of these originals for a while. I have the new “replicas” that vornado came out with and love them.
