Brady Folsted Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Cleaning up this old Westinghouse pacemaker. Runs ok but it makes a very distinct loud buzzing noise. Any suggestions on how to make it go away or exactly what might be the cause? Quote
Lawrence Smith Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 If it buzzes from the stator that means windings are loose & vibrating . You could get lucky & varnish the windings & it might seal it up . It is known as the death buzz. Quote
Brady Folsted Posted October 10, 2024 Author Posted October 10, 2024 Well that a big bummer..... I'll varnish the windings and we will see what happens. Thank you! Quote
Kyle Shelstad Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 which pacemaker? i've varnished many westy stators and have successfully gotten rid of the buzz Quote
Jeff Rusnak Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Just wondering if the buzz goes away after the motor warms up from running.Ive had that on a few Westinghouse fans and it’s just the laminations on the stator buzzing and as the fan runs the motor warms enough for those to expand then the buzz quiets down.So I’ve just tried snugging up the motor bolts and that’s always seemed to stop that for me on my Westinghouse fans…Just my experiences !! Hope I’ve helped some !! 😽 Quote
Brady Folsted Posted October 16, 2024 Author Posted October 16, 2024 No the buzzing is pretty consistent. I'm going to dig into it further and hopefully get it taken care of. Thank you for the feed back, much appreciated. Quote
