Robert Todd Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 I am trying to help my brother doing some work on a pair of Fresh-nd-Aires he bought recently. I believe both fans have the bakelite blades and he is having some difficulty removing them to further his work. Unfortunately, I have never worked on one of these and was hoping that someone might know some tricks to removing the blades on these. Thanks for your assistance. Quote
Lawrence Smith Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Remove thevv by set screw, sometimes they are misaligned , but same principle, loosen set screw & work the blade off the rotor. Quote
Robert Todd Posted October 19, 2024 Author Posted October 19, 2024 Thanks, Lawrence. I think he has tried this already without success. Quote
Russ Huber Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 (edited) If you can take the rear motor housing off so you have access to the back of the motor, you may be able to get a screwdriver into a vent hole and into the rotor to freeze it and spin the blade off. Lawrence Smith Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Need pics of the blade set , I have seen cross threaded screws jammed into the rotor shaft in the wrong place, this caused a burr which made the blade difficult to remove. The abuse applied to these old fans is remarkable. Quote
