Dan Morris was born on a midwest farm where he grew up, married Linda, &  brought her out to the farm where she learned many things that she never had imagined she would know. Dan & Linda raised a family and Dan developed a big & successful business with Mutual Of Omaha  He retired from there and at the advice of their Doctor, because of a lung condition fostered by local allergies, he and Linda moved to Prescott, Arizona where his lung condition vanished and their love for and pursuit of antiques proceeded unhibited. They were part owners of an antique mall on antique row in Prescott. Where Dan got his interest in fans I do not know, but that was one arena where he specialized in restoring fans, selling them to visitors thru the antique mall and shipping them all over the world. When Dan's health began to fail, the medical world had Covid on the brain and failed to remember that people get sick for other reasons as well. He couldn't get in to see medical until the very last when a stage 4 problem could have been treated previously & perhaps successfully as a stage 1 problem.   These are the fans he was most proud of, the ones that he restored and kept in the house to use and enjoy. His instructions to Linda were to include donating them to the AFCA to benefit the club. Tomorrow, I'll speak a few words about each and there will be more posted tomorrow evening, Sunday and Monday as well  Enjoy.......................... Happy Fan Collector

Dan was a friend for many years & was the first person I saw powder coating fans way before it became popular.

All of the brass on these fans has been polished and laquered to maintain the shine.  #1, the Hawthorne vane, has been thru Pauls shop. Blade tweaked for balance vane adjusted so there's flawless oscillation unless U put it on an uneven surface. Paul put new original style Vane stops in as the ones on the fan were not high enough for solid connection with the reverser. Think I'll add notes to the others, attached to the pictures. We couldn't have made this happen without the help and support of Daniel and Kathryn  Konkel of Prescott Valley.  Linda Morris sold me their 6X10 covered one axle trailer which hadn't been used in 4-5 years. Prior to making the trip out for retrieval, Daniel took the trailer for me into town so we could put new tires & lights on and grease the axles for return to road worthy, so when the time came to return to Prescott, we were travel ready. While we were out there, Daniel and Kathryn put us up and fed us in their beautiful home in Prescott Valley. Now on to the fans....

12" GE collar oscillator, oscillates flawlessly on all 3 speeds. Line cord binder is a custom wallpapered toilet paper roll unique to this fan, created by Linda Morris. I'm not sure if the irons on these fans are painted or powdercoated, Dan could do both in his shop. The paint looks exceptionally durable with great luster but we havent been throwing rocks at it to see just how durable it is

Xippas fan runs on all 3 speeds. Base looks great with no chunks of metal missing from this diecast metal casting.

Early Emerson 24666 with custom pin striping, brass cage and appropriately transitioning cast iron blade hub. Runs and oscillates on all 3 speeds. Cage badge I believe is period correct with the  pregnant stamped brass logo.

There aren't a lot of these around. This would be the earliest of the introduction 24666 models introduced in 17 using up old stock brass from the 21666 models the year prior. Those 12" big motor brass struts are hard to find.

I certainly hope the auction does Dan’s fans justice.   It looks like a beautiful collection.   It shows once again we are all temporary curators of the beautiful past.   Best of luck.

This fan is a cosmetic beauty and runs very well. Was sad to find out that there are a couple of key gears missing in the base which doesn't allow it to operate on the nickel. Looks much the part and has a strong running motor though.
