F. A. Smith Becomes Fasco Becomes Ametek Rochester, NY

Steve Rockwell shared the Fasco/Ametek location images below with me in recent past and I dug up the other images. I recall members speaking strongly of the late Jim Lindsey and his infatuation with Fasco fans. Jim was before I came on the scene. John McComas sold me the Ametek strobe I use, and I know John was very close to Jim Lindsey. Strangely enough Fasco later became Ametek headquarters.

Jim was my friend & a wonderful person all the way around. He gave me a lot of FA Smith literature & I proudly own 10 of his fans I bought when Barb sold his collection. He & Barb worked for FASCO in Southwest Missouri & this is what peaked his interest in FASCO fans.

Good to know, Stan.   I'm in the middle of researching right now.  When I joined AFCA I noted Jim in particular regarding Fasco et cetera...  Working at the plant would certainly pique one's interest in that brand... My Dad had a (presumably brief) stint in the Rochester factory, which fact is precisely why I paid attention to F.A. Smith initially... No records or further commentary of his employment exist, and I'm glad that you have Jim's archives, and can carry the knowledge further.....

Kevin here, I too am a Fasco fan!  Here is one I picked up at Fan Fair last week. It needed some new wiring and seems to be running good ( maybe a little Hot). Unless they tend to run warm. The silver one I restored for Sophie, and it was one of her first fans. Thanks Russ and all who commented on this thread. I enjoyed reading it.

I wonder what years these F. A. Smith base styles were on the market.  I had a shot years ago on a 16" model like seen below. I got cold feet as it was such a beast of a fan.
