Jeff Jones
Picked this up over the weekend. Unfortunately the blade is f'ed...and the cage is all bent to crap and was repaired at the bottom. But it's complete, it runs, and the bushing seems to be pretty tight. Anyone know where I might get a blade that won't break the bank? Steve Butler
Nice score, congrats. See if Jerry Bravi will re-wing it. Edited September 18 by Steve Butler
Steve Stephens
Looks like a 12" model with a later (wrapped) guard. The badge is later than 1902 also. I don't necessarily see anything that is not fixable.
Jeff Jones
Just confirming this wasn't one of the ones ge had intentionally put out of clock right? The one spoke on the spider that's bent (curved) almost looks like it was cast that way? The blade was way out of balance...but before attempting to soften it and bend it back wanted to make sure it wasn't intentional.

It’s my understanding that it was the brass bell era, maybe 2 stars that were “de locked”. The ones I had were brass bells
Kim Frank
You're going to need a ten s-wire cage with pinned rear ring. 8 wire cages didn't start showing up on cakes until 2nd variant 1903 and 8 wire wrapped rear ring cages until 1904. So is my cage wrong? Was able to get it pretty straight. Also this bend on this blade looks almost too perfect....there's no way this would have been cast this way correct? Got the wings themselves straight bit it's still way outta balance...as I'd expext because it's so far out of clock.
Jeff Jones
Well we attempted to straighten it and it snapped... so now I really need a blade... or I guess I'll post this for sale and try to recoup what I spent on it. How does it get bent that bad in the 1st place but when you gently try to coax it back using heat even it must snaps? Why doesn't it snap initially? If the hub is broken, I would love to own it for drawing purposes.
Bill Dunlap
I've had pretty bad luck fixing those once they've been bent that bad. Even if you could get it back in alignment, could you really trust it not to come apart while running? There might be some hubs left floating around. Someone made some a while back.... Lane Shirey
It likely became work hardened when it bent. Annealing it before trying to bend it back might have helped. Or there was a micro crack already existing.

It doesn't look bad...but again my worry is will it fly apart when running...if it's even balanced enough to run.
