Scott Braswell
Anyone know the correct size rivet for a GE AOU 75425 name plate? I appreciate the help.
Tim Babcock
I use 4/40 brass screws and a nut. Those rivets are hit and miss on how well they hold. You can pick up a bag of 4 at lowes fro 2 bucks. They work well. I know some who use pop rivets but on older fans it does not look right.
Scott Braswell
Tim I appreciate that and will check those out. Any chance you know item numbers or any pictures? Scott Edited November 6 by Scott Braswell
John Landstrom
Scott, I’ve used these on my old GE’s and they look fine. Granted, they’re not as domed as the originals but I gave up after months of searching. I’d be happy to send you some to try out / use. Just send your address to me in a message and I’ll pop ‘em in the mail. Note: You do have to cut the split deeper with a small hacksaw blade so that the remaining solid part is about 1/8”. That way they’ll hold well. I just popped the head in a small vice and gently sawed down the split to the desired depth. Took 2 minutes each. Check out the pic and you’ll see the differences in the split rivets. john Edited November 6 by John Landstrom
Todd Adornato
Per a suggestion I read elsewhere on this forum, I’ve used brass escutcheon pins with decent results.

Scott Here is a link to them on Lowes site. The Yellow bags are for brass, green for steel. Depending on what kind of fan you are working on. These don't work on badges on the head. They work great for the ones on the switch or somewhere you can put a nut on the back side. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-4-40-x-3-8-in-Slotted-Drive-Machine-Screws-4-Count/3202169?idProductFound=false&idExtracted=false
Trevor Andersen
I use brass linoleum nails and take a dremel blade and split the end to hold it in place.
John Landstrom
1/8” x 7/16” brass split rivets work well and come close to the originals; albeit the dome is flatter. Can’t remember where I got them but just Google them and you’ll find a few places that have them. Look for solid brass. The solid part of the shafts are a bit long making them loose but just tale a thin hacksaw blade and cut the split deeper and they work fine. 1
