Perhaps 10% of original paint left, castings have numerous small flaws, pits, etc. WD-40, 0000 Steel Wool

Wow, great job so far Steve! That fan was in very tough shape when I saw it on eBay. It has a way to go but you've made remarkable progress!

& it runs great, the oilers need attention of course after 100++ years

The blade and cage look good. a little too much rust for me. IMO

Don’t try to run it without the blade attached. Brush motors need a load on them or they will run away. I know by experience.
