Not 100% certain if the pull lever did in fact control the large blades, but it definitely activated the shoo-fly wands beneath the blades, or turned them off, while leaving the full size blades turning. Those Victorian eradesigners/artisans wereextravagant indeed, but...when the blades wereturning, I find it hard tobelieve any flies wouldhave be hangin' aroundany shoo-fan paddles,activated or not.
