  1. This is my first ceiling fan but it felt more like restoring 2 desk fans at once. Bought this fan from Stefan Osdene. It has 2- 12" blades. I bought one of the blades from Chad Baker. The other blade was in good shape. Style 221499 C, Serial 1701447, centrifugal start, one speed, with a Perkins power switch. The whole fan was repainted over the original paint so I stripped all the paint off and repainted black. What's worse the restore a stamped steel motor, restoring two stamped steel motors! 🙄 I replaced the broken drive spring with a new sewing machine belt. It worked great! It runs nice and quite and smooth. Now I have to decide where I want to hang it. Haha Before link: Westinghouse Gyro - Pre-1950 (Antique) - Antique Fan Collectors Association - AFCA Forums

  2. Alex ,be cautious slamming a stamped steel fan-- go to the old forum & look up Malcolm Mcgregor, he did some work on these & I think has some pics & info on stator removal. If it has threaded holes in the stator use them & lightly tap around the stator to drop it. Also some WD 40 around the outside ring to help loosen the varnish up from the housing, Good luck

  3. Just an experiment to see how easy it is to upload photos. Obviously easy, since I managed to upload a couple of photos. I'm over the stated limits on total size, so if nothing appears then I can go back and eliminate one pic and be under the 4.88 MB.

  4. I install bridge rectifiers in these fans which makes them run smoother and also lets them run on 120 volts, although a bit slower. Most of the 240 volt fans I've had here won't run at all on straight 120VAC. Once the rectifier is installed, they will run. It makes them universal, too. AC or DC doesn't matter anymore. Also, I've ordered printable water slide decal paper for inkjet printers. I'll give a go at making water slide decals and my first one will be a Bandy badge decal. Cheers, Bill

  5. Yes or you could spray clear lacquer over it and it won't cause the orange peel that you see when you put clear lacquer over other paints. You can always tone down the shine by lightly going over the clear lacquer (when it dries)with four zero steel wool.
