  1. It’s been a project, a search, and a learning experience refurbishing this old fan I found in an unopened moving box. Unfortunately moisture had gotten to the base of the fan as it sat for 7 years under the house. Finding this site was crucial for information, parts and the people here who were especially helpful. I’d like to thank all who helped this complete novice with my first ever fan refurbishment project. The people here were a great source of information on the fan itself, finding parts, and how to avoid pitfalls when working toward making it functional (and pretty) again. Note I say refurbishment. I won’t call it a restoration because I didn’t remove and have the stater rewound. It was working and removing it was beyond me without damaging the motor housing. Best leave well enough alone. Everything else was stripped, rust removed, primed and painted or polished. Wiring was replaced for head wires and power. I did end up purchasing a donor fan off the internet to acquire some of the needed parts, so now that I’m done I’ll be listing what leftover parts I have to offer up. Most are for this model fan, but a couple are for either a later model or another brand. If I’m off base listing them here please let me know. I can always offer the entire selection to one of the vendors commonly used here. In any case, I’m sharing a few pics of the fan as it sits now. It’s a powerhouse. Even on the “low” setting it’s darn strong. On “high” it sounds (and blows) like an old prop biplane. Motor is quiet (without the blade on it), it oscillates smoothly and looks pretty darn good for a first attempt. Oh, it’s pretty dark looking with the Charleston Green color unless you put it direct sunlight. Then the green really does shine through. And “yes”, I did polish and clear the brass. My apologies to those who consider that a sin. <grin> My wife liked the bling, and I have to admit - considering the new paint job - I just didn’t think the old brown tarnished brass looked good at all. I felt it was like painting your old car real nice and not shining up the chrome. Again, a huge THANK YOU ! to all who put up with my questions, long messages, and confusion as to what “Steve” I was talking to.
