  1. Someone posted on another FB fan page but I thought I’d share the information here. Rustoleum has put Charleston Green back into production. Home Depot has inventory as well as other places. You’ll need to order it online. I doubt you’ll find it at your local store but they have free shipping now online. It’s sold as a case of 6 for around $35 For new restorers, this is a decent match for the GE Loophandle fans that have the very dark green paint. A collective sigh of relief! Merry Christmas folks!

  2. Picked this up over the summer. I have a soft spot for these later westy's. I like the way Westinghouse kept updating the design based on the original power-aire, just with current materials. Anyway I thought it would be a quick turnaround then found out the oscillator shaft in the motor housing was wallowed out. How that happened is beyond me, the fan weighs about 3 pounds and there's just not a lot of pull on it. I ended up drilling it round and putting a liner in. There was not a lot of material to work with so I used a thin steel piece I had on hand. Blade had a deep scratch I took out with some fine sandpaper and novus polish. It works pretty well now. 2 speeds. I'll use it in the office this coming summer. It's all original finish down to the cord. Not perfect but perfectly original.

  4. Louis, looks like great progress! I can't edit my posts by clicking the three dots in the corner. The only option that appears for me is "share". In another thread I asked someone to DM me because I can't DM anyone. I thought it was because my post count isn't enough yet for the forum, but a moderator told me it is because I don't have a paid account. :o( BOO! I wonder if I become a paying member if I can edit my posts as well as DM members. I'll have to look into it, but this would be the first group that I have to "pay" to join. I just wanted to make mention of the fact that the Collar Oscillator is VERY similar to the GE Coin Operated Hotel Fan, and all the photos I can find online of the Coin Op have an oiler on the front nose cone. HOWEVER, it isn't straight down, it's actually at a 45 degree angle down. I'm glad you'll offer the nose cone both ways, with and without an oiler. 5. Brushes project from the rotor in opposite directions. The "copper plate" being a stationary slip ring... and on the opposite side, the stationary commutator.
