This is the first time I've had an S4 apart. It wasn't running, so I've not seen it go. Can you smart people explain how the centrifugal switch mechanism works? It looks to me like the contact ring shifts forward under speed, or does it pull back in somehow? Is the mechanism supposed to rattle aound like that? Does the steel dust cover ring thing on the back do anything at all? I'd love to see a video of your S4 switch on startup and learn how this thing is supposed to work. I'll be reassembling to try it after testing, cleaning and rewiring, but I'd like to understand how it is supposed to work before firing it up. Thank you. IMG_3077.MOV

This is in the top three least common fan I've found "in the wild." I'm sure it is the furthest I've ever driven to pick up a specific fan. I haven't wiped off the dust yet, and I just put in on the bench and took some pics. I've looked it over and see a few things wrong, but once stripped, recoated and all polished up it should look pretty goood (jk - not gonna happen). It will get normal cleaning and reconditioning, a few repairs and a new rear oiler. I'm not a Century expert at all. I've owned a couple of split phase S3s as well as regular S3 oscillators, but I didn't keep any of them. This one I think will be a keeper, although I think it's pretty ugly and has too many parts for what it is. Does anyone know how many were made? I feel pretty luck to have bought it. I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments.
