First restoration out of the new shop.

It's been about 5 years since I've posted a restoration. I've been working for a large electric motor repair shop and had to stop doing full time restoration work. I bought a 1902 farmhouse 3 years ago and I just finished up the shop.

I have a bunch of cast iron and brass fans that I've been dying to restore but this fan was actually needed in the kitchen so it took priority.

Luckily it was a simple and straight forward job. I gave it a fresh rewind, made new bearings from Oilite bronze and replaced the felt.

Everything was blasted and finished with epoxy primer and a metallic silver and black base coat/clear coat.IMG_20220717_155339266.thumb.jpg.9109a0762f9513faea1816e1e1c94c4d.jpgIMG_20220717_155350517.thumb.jpg.2e4c87e3cac1495fff3d7ad81c9fe622.jpgIMG_20220717_155359490.thumb.jpg.263d41c47b9699c615c3e0d3f448867f.jpgIMG_20220717_155413790_HDR.thumb.jpg.2af91273a30fcdf854824bf5fe6af99c.jpgIMG_20220720_105015996.thumb.jpg.fd31e9e9d03c033852e647bb157046ab.jpgIMG_20220720_112006500.thumb.jpg.1bb1efd1584af048bccdabef4e58e38e.jpgIMG_20220807_143845389_HDR.thumb.jpg.df4c68ebe7ed170f2693139ed6436b96.jpgIMG_20220811_201728478.thumb.jpg.157611959214f6067f8da61497052a9f.jpgIMG_20220813_183406457.thumb.jpg.f912338c774dcd73dd730a467ef137d5.jpgIMG_20220813_183153128.thumb.jpg.eb160fd4426842f56a3a8730680bbf41.jpg

Love the shop !   When can I move in ??

sounds like you’re busier than a bee, but wanted to inquire…..  Do you accept motors/staters for rewinds?  Mine still work, but it won’t be a complete “restoration” unless they’re rewound, only a refurbishment.   Feel free to message me.

Hi John, right now I'm not doing any jobs outside of my own collection. I work a lot of overtime and I really don't want to commit to anything. Maybe down the road when I have some of my fans finished up I might take on a few smaller jobs.

Thank you all for the kind words!

Next is an R&M 1404 for me and my fiance is going to restore the little Signal fan on her own with a little guidance.

Very nice shop set up. And a great job done on your fan. I love this model and have owned several. I gave one to friend to put in his cabin. It puts a smile on my face every time I see it running.

Larry Mong found an old Black & White photo. It was a Black barber shop. They had that fan hanging over the chairs. Underneath it was a light shade. Larry created one. We have some amazingly talented members.
