Anthony Lindsey
This fan # doesn't appear in the GE date history. Since it starts 78x I assume it is 1938-41 window. original paint? runs good. It has the lowest low of any GE fan I've come across. Doesn't get hot either so it could be operating correctly.
John Landstrom
No answer ?? Damn ! I just picked up the same fan. 12” 78-840 272872-1 Ser# AB21800 It's one of the cleanest and original fans I’ve bought. Original paint in pretty good shape. Mine ran, VERY SLOW, and then just started buzzing. Would love more info on it.
John Landstrom
Anthony, Wonder if you could do me a favor. As I mentioned I picked a 78x840 up recently. Like yours it does look to be original paint and innards. Have a couple of questions on mine that you can answer for me by looking at yours. First off, outdoor you take out a motor cap screw from the rear of your fan and post a pic? All the other GE’s I have use brass machine thread screws for the motor caps. You’ll see in the pic below what came on mine. They’re very course threads, almost like course wood screws. Didn’t know if these were a “MacGyver” fix or original and would like to see what your screws look like. Secondly, was there an inner cap under the brass cap on the rear motor cover? I saw a pic somewhere that looks like there was an inner cap to cover the rotor shaft and the outer brass cap (with logo). Does yours have a set up like that? Anthony Lindsey
Unfortunately the fan is in Alaska. Yes those motor screws are correct. I did not remove the end cap so I can't answer the last question. Sorry.

As long as your brother uses the advantage of that telescopic camera lens, there is hope he will be able to continue his profession.
Anthony Lindsey
hahaha!! That's him. Too Cool. I've been there 14 times and he has an adventure planned everytime. I've been 15 feet from a big grizzly and I will promise you, your heart pounds when it happens. Super scary and super exciting at the same time. A wolf walked 8 feet from me once.
Anthony Lindsey
There's all kinds of stuff to photograph, lately it's been a white Raven. He's been chasing it around for the last month. Unfortunately they hang around civilization so dumpsters etc. So he gets pictures with a pizza slice etc. The one with the moon is cool.
Anthony Lindsey
Then there's the Aurora Borealis which is mainly winter and deep in the night when it's 0 degrees. I like the one with the boat.

You have a badge I may need. Make sure we make the exchange before you go visit your brother. Grizzly bears are the fastest of the Ursidae family and can sprint at top speeds of 35 mph to 40 mph.
