Jim Roadt
Functioning as it should ,now time to clean it up Blade is stuck on Tried penetrating oil and heat...nothing Removed gear box cover and all nuts holding motor housing together, thinking somehow that would help...it did not Looks like the blade has to come off first then ?
Louis Luu
Ask Mike Petree...he has worked on these before. I was wondering the same on how to remove the back gear housing?
Stephen Chew
Paul Graves is a great source.

To get the blade off on stuck shafts I used an old trick I was taught, heat up the shaft and center hub and spray wd 40 before doing it then gently tap the blade off
Jim Roadt
Blade off...needs a lot of heat Not sure I need that gear box off but would like to get housing apart
Anthony Lindsey
I worked around it. I couldn't see how to remove it and I didn't want to damage it. It was a pain but doable.
Anthony Lindsey
If you tap the front of the rotor with a rubber mallet it should push the rear housing apart from the front housing.
Steve Cunningham
If I’m not mistaken the transmission is held on by friction.
Vic Valencheck
You definitely have to take the blade off. Once you have the blade off, remove the front motorhousing. Paul Graves taught me this. Stratal the motor between your knees with back facing up, then use a punch that is a little smaller than the rotor shaft. Hammer lightly between the metal ring . The ring is pressed on. It will come off easily. Be careful that the rotor shaft doesn't fall to the floor.

Vic Valencheck
Maybe I should have called it a sleeve.

Jim Roadt
Houston......we have separation.... Light tapping with rubber mallet worked Seems like it will not completely separate until that " sleeve " Vic mentioned comes off Does that sound correct? Jim Roadt
I would prefer not to remove pressed on sleeve nor the gearbox Stator studs free and clear of front housing . Feels like front housing is stuck on stator
Vic Valencheck
Removed, wrong information. Edited November 11, 2022 by Vic Valencheck
Anthony Lindsey
The rotor is stuck onto the rear section. You can pull the entire rear along with the rotor out of the housing and it will separate from the front housing.
Anthony Lindsey
Hete is a picture showing the rotor still in the housing ready for paint. I didn't separate it and worked around it.
Anthony Lindsey
Use a punch from the front and tap the rotor out of the bearing. Try to use a punch with a pointed tip to keep it in the middle of the rotor shaft. Tap lightly and it should slowly back out of the bearing. Anthony Lindsey
Use the rubber mallet until the rotor shaft is flush then switch to the punch. It's not the stator, It's the bearing gripping the rotor shaft thats holding it together.
Anthony Lindsey
also remove the oil cup and wick. The wick presses up against the rotor.
