Louis Weedman Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 I hope it tasted really good! I'll be buying out all the bananas and duct tape at Walmart now and making my own. For sale, I'll take $5 million each bargain price! Ridiculous, I really hope it's a joke. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2024/11/21/duct-taped-banana-auction-comedian/76477492007/ 1 Quote
Christian Kasprzyk Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 If it’s a joke, it’s definitely a lesson the world needs to learn. You cant just do something so ungodly lazy and get by. Things take effort and the most effort put into this was driving somewhere to get the banana! I am part of gen Z, one of the most ridiculous generations yet and they all seem to idolize these people who do literally nothing! Quote

Bob Peshoff Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 "For many,'Comedian' is an object lesson in the excesses of the art world, the absurdity of the art market, and the gaping wealth inequalities that now define the global economy." All of this is important to keep in mind when considering that Cattelan's "Comedian" is a single banana, reportedly purchased on the day of the auction for $0.35 according to the New York Times, and duct-taped to a blank wall. Tim Babcock Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 The art world is one huge scam. This one I know is true. Blue and yellow on Canvas sells for over 45 million usd.. A 4 yo child could do this and most likely better. Although the bar is very low. I live near the Crystal Bridges Museum the Walton's put up. It has some really nice pieces but a the modern art is just stupid. I have seen canvas painted gray with one red dot in the center displayed, among other ridiculous things. Real art is Micheal Angelo, da Vinci and the Dutch masters. But art has devolved into anything from a cross upside down in a jar of urine to what looks like a test wall color you try to see what shade of paint you want for you house. Art today is the kings new cloths. https://www.wsj.com/articles/sothebys-sells-rothko-for-46-5-million-1431486062 Quote
Tim Babcock Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Doing a bit of research I found one of if not the dumbest things anyone could call art and actually sell to another dumbass. An Invisible sculpture. https://mymodernmet.com/invisible-sculpture-salvatore-garau/ Quote

Marc Sova Posted January 21 Posted January 21 When I was in art school me and a buddy used to go to the Stl art museum and stare intently at a fire extinguisher or a pull down alarm like it was some fancy art piece we were studying. Most contemporary art…I like to quip “I can draw better peeing the snow”. And it’s true about half the time. Quote
Steve Cunningham Posted January 21 Posted January 21 True. And he paid $1.25 for the banana. As soon as a buyer bought it, the owner ate the banana. Quote
Lane Shirey Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Not even $1.25. You can get a small hand for that. I always marvel at the cost of bananas given they’re imported. They must grow there like dandelions do here. Lol Quote
