Newest addition to the GE line up in the Museum

Had a visit yesterday from Brad Chaney and wife Jane E of Washington State. They are on a three week roadtrip , checking things out and paid us a visit at the Museum. While they couldn't stay for the meet, we had a nice visit and Brad gave me a 1904 GE type AG form D 12 inch exhaust fan. It is very unusual in that it's original owner fabricated an anti-reversal mechanism on the blade. As soon as I can build a stand for it, the fan will be on display in the Museum. Thank you Brad and Jane. Hope you have a great rest of your trip. Be safe and Thank you.

That is fascinating about the anti-reverse device. In industry we could call that a "back stop."  The issue I see with that is the lack of protection if the natural draft happened to be in the same direction as the fan's rotation. I have seen exhaust fans where the centrifugal start mechanism was completely worn away to nothing from windmilling in the breeze.

Display stand is done and exhaust fan is mounted. Motor was cleaned up a bit and stator taps were checked. Blade was balanced. I'm still amazed at the Yankee ingenuity with the anti reversal device. Nice example that will go into the GE timeline in the Museum.
