Just finished Emerson 16666

Here's my Emerson 16666 fresh off the work bench and writing this up while enjoying watching it run (I know it's 17 degrees out but who cares!?!?). When I got this fan, it was complete and not in trashed condition. Cage was surprisingly perfectly round. Seller said it ran. I'll take his word on it as I wasn't going to test it with that much bare copper showing. I wasn't in the mood for sparks everywhere. Enough sparking had already been done on this fan as one of the hub fingers had been welded back on. I sent the blades to Jerry Bravi for his expertise. He reported back that the weld was good and strong. A couple days later, I had a beautiful set of blades back in my hands. Jerry does spectacular work! All the iron was sent to my buddy Dustin Soto at Mirror Image Coatings in Racine, WI.  His powder coat work is absolute perfection! I handled the rest of the brass polishing. All of the steel fasteners and steel parts of the oscillator linkages were gun blued. These lever oscillators are a thing of beauty in my opinion! Such a smooth and quiet runner! It's too bad all of that beautiful linkage is hidden at the back of the fan!

Beautiful job Patrick, that’s a real head turner!  👍👍👍

Thanks Steve! My first lever oscillator and I love how it all came together!

Patrick, you touched one of my fan buttons with your comment on oscillator linkage.  I agree that linkage is one of the coolest elements of these old gems. While you have more extravagant fans than most, I always try to polish brass linkage and often have it plated brass. It’s just so cool to watch it slowly and methodically rotate, move back and forth and turn!

That is just a awesome restoration. I’m hoping to complete a 27666 next week. Of course I will be watching that oscillator linkage too😃👍

Malcolm, I just love these big motor 6 wing Emersons! And I always polish the brass oscillator link on any Emerson that has them (even when the blades aren't brass). Gotta let that brass shine!  I just finished a 27666 a  couple months back and that's a great running fan as well!

Thanks for the compliments! Normally I do my own paint work. But with the cold, it was time to turn to powder for this one. And I couldn't be happier with the way everything turned out.

Wow Patrick good job restoring that fan. The motor tag on top of it looks great too. I absolutely love 6 wing fans especially Emersons

Thanks for the compliments!  I was close to repainting that motor tag, but decided to leave it as is.  I just did a quick hand polish with Simichrome polish.

I need to find one of those lever oscillators to go with my 19666.

These 6 wing Emersons are an addiction! Fair warning! I've got 9 of them and still wanting more! But I'd have to say this one is my new favorite. Quiet, smooth, and such a joy to watch it work.

Great job. That’s a dream fan for sure!

Thanks Jon! I'm still pleased with the way it turned out. And fellow members that stop by love checking it out in person. I've been running here and there since I've restored it. Looking forward to warmer weather so I can run it more often.

Very nice Patrick, love the 16666s

Thanks Mark. These fans have it all. Six brass blades, step base, beautiful oscillator linkages, big motor. Well, it is missing one thing...a centrifugal.
