  1. If your brushed motor armature tests bad, don't flip your lid and send it off for rebuild without giving it a close look first. This armature belongs to a GE series G 6" BB mighty mouse fan. I have a table mount magnifying light and carefully examined the armature for opens. A few of the commutator segments had no continuity. After finding no evident opens I CAREFULLY checked the armature winding leads soldered to the commutator segments using a probe carefully lifting them to find 2 Commutator segment winding connections severed. I was fortunate to have enough winding to reattach them under the magnifying glass/light with solder and now the armature is once again fully functional and ready for action. 🙂 The solder aid stick is pointing out the 2 winding to commutator segment repairs.

  4. Looks like my cage repair should work out. I will polish the brass then attach the wires to the back with dabs of silver solder on the holes.

  5. First my BMY GE was packed properly..I have shipped at least 50 fans so I think I know what I’m doing.. anyway mine broke at the neck by UPS, My friend Larry also sent his Jandus C frame by FedEx and it also broke at the neck, Larry use that Insta foam packaging where it swells up giving 100% support to the fan.. Anyway I am convinced that when you ship a fan you need to keep the base loose and not tight.. even better disconnected it into 2 pieces... I will never again ship a fan where the motor and the base are tight, From now on only loose, Or even better in 2 pieces.. Anyway if you’re reading this I hope you can learn from our mistakes and not make the same one yourself.. By the way both UPS as well as FedEx will make life difficult for you to get any insurance claim.. both of us bought insurance and both of us have been denied because they are both claiming the fans were improperly packed..

  7. I bought this from Doc, this last meet. Rustolium came out with a Dark Hunter green. I painted this Whiz that color. I put it up against one of my Dark green GE fans I painted. Its got more blue then the hunter green which is a bit more yellow. I think the DHG may look a bit closer to the original GE green.
