Anthony Lindsey
Interesting, the fan ran on 1 speed with pull of chain. Very quiet. Probably get it for $50 if it was worth getting.
Stan Adams
Yes, it is VERY worth getting. Those Hunter Adjustables are fine & scarce! It is missing the snap switch, it should have a three speed snap switch, but still very worth that cost.

Louis Weedman
Hunter C-18 Adjustable. Buy it for sure if they are willing to sell, or at least leave your info in case they ever do!
Anthony Lindsey
I'm on it, I will update if I get it. It's in a middle Eastern carpet store and when I asked about it the man was very wary of me and thought I was probably up to no good but after he figured out I was actually very interested he was much friendlier. I asked to take pics and if he would consider selling it. I don't think he ever noticed it as I pointed at it 5 times and he kept looking at the back of the store with one eye while keeping the other one on me. Dave Hoatson
I have two unrestored for sale if someone wants to visit me in MD. Perhaps the best ceiling fan ever made. Here’s my restored one: http://www.afcaforum.com/view_topic.php?id=30793&forum_id=1&highlight=Hunter+C-18

Am I imagining things, or was there a Hunter adjustable that predated the C-18 and had an even wilder mechanism? Another odd fact about the C-18 is that we have seen four examples that appear to have factory blue/green paint. I own two:
Andrew Block
That would be the adjustable Tuerk.
David Welch
Hey David, do you use a variable speed controller on that? Does it go very low? I heard someone say the low speed was too fast. I heard someone say the low speed was too fast. Most early AC ceiling fans don’t have much separation in speeds. Mine has a pretty noticeable difference. But, I use a KB wall speed control to get much slower speeds
Anthony Lindsey
Got it, one year later. Walked back into the carpet store and offered the guy some $ and he got a ladder and I took it down. Fan runs but single speed on a pull chain switch. Covered in silver paint. No switch.
Anthony Lindsey
Took the air hose to it to nlow out decadrs of dust and it has that greenish paint underneath that looks original .
Geoff Dunaway
My Grandmother had emerson fans installed in her Texarkana, AR home when it was extensively remodeled in 1938. As her new house aged along with she and my Grandfather, she would repaint the walls and ceiling of the house to freshen things up, occasionally changing color tint for a new look. Every time the room got painted after the initial remodel, so did the ceiling fans.
Anthony Lindsey
I'm sure many ceiling fans got painted for sure. If you look further up this post David Hoatsen posted about 4 of these fans with the same mint green (sort of) paint color.
Anthony Lindsey
Started cleaning this fan and under the paint is copper flashing. Wonder if I should leave it?
