Patrick Ray Posted February 19, 2024 Author Posted February 19, 2024 Oscillator arm was rusty and pitted. Wanted to do something different and not paint it like the rest of the fan. Did a homebrew nickel plating! Can still see some of the pits from the rust, but I'll call it a win! 3 Quote
Patrick Ray Posted March 3, 2024 Author Posted March 3, 2024 Debated on going with a different color, but black shall do... 2 Quote
Patrick Ray Posted March 25, 2024 Author Posted March 25, 2024 Going a lil backwards here. Way too many imperfections in the base that weren't being hidden. Stripped the paint and prepped for some body work. Using 3M light weight body filler as it's easy to carve down. 3 Quote
Steve Butler Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 The first picture on this post was that of a fan that wouldn’t get a second look. It’s going to be a head turner when you get done! 1 Quote

It’s going to be a head turner when you get done! Guy was selling several fans and this one was the cheapest of his bunch! Bunch of over-priced dime store fans and then there was this gem. You don't find these very often. This one was mostly complete and not trashed and broken. I knew it was a diamond in the rough! Quote
Patrick Ray Posted March 25, 2024 Author Posted March 25, 2024 Got it all smoothed out! The flange was the roughest portion of the casting. Ready for some paint! I'll probably paint it some evening after work this week. 1 Quote

Patrick Ray Posted March 31, 2024 Author Posted March 31, 2024 All together! Only thing I'm waiting on is a new tag to be made. Found that early Menominee Clamshells with the exposed brush holders has the same size brush caps as what this fan needed. Shout out to Darryl Hudson for making new ones! 4 Quote
Steve Butler Posted March 31, 2024 Posted March 31, 2024 Beautiful work Patrick! I doubt that fan looked that good when it left the factory. 1 Quote
Patrick Ray Posted March 31, 2024 Author Posted March 31, 2024 Thanks Steve! I'm so happy to have this one back together and running. Looked so sad when I started and it looks like a respectable fan now! Got a 12" Menominee that needs some love as well. But that one will have to wait. Back to Emersons! Quote
Larry Hancock Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 Great work, Patrick!! That is an amazing save!! 1 Quote
