Been working on this off and on for a few weeks. I had hoped to have all original paint under the barn filth but the base was repainted poorly without removing the original finish. So I stripped off all the japan and have it primed. I'll lightly sand and then put on a black acrylic urethane mix I've made that gets closer to the depth of black of the japan. Then I'll put a 2k clear on. The other parts will remain original finish as it's 95% intact.

I discovered the switch plate was held together with duct tape. I rebuilt the plate with epoxy and pool putty. I cleaned the lamenations and revarnished it all. Rewrapped the choke coil as well.

Got the base repainted and cleared. Now I just need to work on the rewiring and assembly. Will put on new feet when they arrive in the mail.20220607_182700.thumb.jpg.cdb3fbbd9de1e1e1641684a4e537312b.jpg20220607_183000.thumb.jpg.95fa86a078480a037ce287d0af2a99f2.jpg

Got it pretty much done except for putting on the rubber feet when they arrive. Repainted base and treated and touched up rust spots, but original finish otherwise. Seems like the specs may be a little high. It runs at 1.35 amps on high and around 135 watts. 120 watts on low.

They're not being polished.

Why not?

I think slick clean paint, especially Jeterized Japan, with contrasting clean tarnished brass make a great statement together  That's difficult to achieve starting out with a buffed out blade, which however, makes a great but different statement in it's own right.
