What's wrong with your switch? Is the baseplate broken?

Levi:  His switch is missing the coil so it is simply an on/off switch - no speeds.

OK, I was wondering. I have a 10" Stamped Steel Westinghouse that all there, but the headwire isn't original (I wired it up using zip cord and some shrink tubing because the orignal headwire was bad) and I need to figure out how to replace the old headwire properly.
