David Welch Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 How do I get to the bearings on this ceiling fan? The stator came out pretty good, cleaning it up now but the bearing housing. Quote
Stan Adams Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 It’s a rebadged GE, that nose piece screws off. Been a while since I worked on a GE, but the nose piece probably has left hand threads, so clockwise to unscrew. 1 1 Quote
Steve Cunningham Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 It does have left hand threads. Penetrating oil and patience. 1 Quote
David Welch Posted July 11, 2022 Author Posted July 11, 2022 It was left hand threads, thanks. Do you know about the electrical system? Quote
Dave Hoatson Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 (edited) GEs have a setscrew in the side of the oil cup that must be loosened before you can unscrew the oil cup. Sometimes, I clamp the oil cup in a vise and turn the fan body to unscrew the oil cup. You can buy a modern ball thrust bearing if the old one is bad. It may be thinner, requiring a bearing spacer washer. Also, sometimes one of the two thrust bearing washers has an undersized inside diameter that has to be ground a little larger. Do you know what the ohms should be with all the coils wired properly? I've got 47.7 ohms. Thanks Quote
