The strange things I encountered while working on a fan

I've encountered mud dauber nests as well in the base of my Hawthorn Victor Vane and in one other fan. I guess that's the sign of a true barn find!

I wish I would’ve taken a picture I wasn’t thinking anyway I had to chisel out mud Dobbers it was packed solid..

I can't say I've heard of that. My findings sound rather tame compared to that.

I found an acorn in one of my fans a couple years back but there have been several occasions when I opened a fan to find mud daubers. This little Emerson Jr ran when I got it and so I was surprised to see just how bad the mud daubers had encased the rotor, on both ends of the motor housing. Then again, it's an Emerson so I shouldn't have been surprised!

This is a first for adding a file to a reply on our new site.   And a first for adding a picture (avatar) or whatever it is now called.  Yes opening one of these old fans can be a real surprise sometimes.
