Alex Koh
Ended up finding a walnut and three pieces of corn inside the motor upon opening it.

David Kilnapp
I've encountered mud dauber nests as well in the base of my Hawthorn Victor Vane and in one other fan. I guess that's the sign of a true barn find!

I can't say I've heard of that. My findings sound rather tame compared to that.

Lawrence Smith
Here is my 21666, before opening up the scraping noise was troublesome. Luckily these cleaned out & the fan runs great
Dave McManaman
I found an acorn in one of my fans a couple years back but there have been several occasions when I opened a fan to find mud daubers. This little Emerson Jr ran when I got it and so I was surprised to see just how bad the mud daubers had encased the rotor, on both ends of the motor housing. Then again, it's an Emerson so I shouldn't have been surprised!
Thomas Newcity
This is a first for adding a file to a reply on our new site. And a first for adding a picture (avatar) or whatever it is now called. Yes opening one of these old fans can be a real surprise sometimes.
