Michael Rathberger
It's the new style for all things Jim. Speeches, fan pictures, houses, cars, buses, etc. Get with the times That said, I did see that fan in the flesh. It was better than I thought, nice example. 23066 110 volt.

Jesse Sanders
Was that the $$$ one from Decatur IL? Didn't know 23066 was even a model type, or rather that there was a 23xxx model type.

Chris Campbell
Bill Hoehn said owned a 21048. Only 21 DC ever heard of. Otherwise 21 should be identical to 23 series which was DC only 1914 -21 series DC 1915 /16 - 23 series DC only 1917 -24 series and much more common The 23066 above has a handle, which was unique vs others without. Would have coincided with late series 21646. Handful of 23046 surface past few years also without handle. All brass cages Edited September 8, 2022 by Chris Campbell
Chris Campbell
Aside from bases the biggest changes found with DCs are brush holders. 1015 had knurled brass cap over lead insert within holder held on by brass screw, 1115 phenolic/Gutta over lead holder with insulator groove and round head brass screw on end. Then around 110xx same profile in brown as above over brass holder with slotted cap to more easily access carbon brush. 24 series profile of insulator lost grove and had raised rim. 29 series (not below) saw a bakelite insulated cap that mimics the Northwind in larger size Edited September 8, 2022 by Chris Campbell

Michael Rathberger
Those roundball Emerson's are nice looking fans. I'm a little surprised the 27046 has not sold yet.

Chris Campbell
“Prices include swivel plug and 10’ cord” There is a chance the cord on above fan was original to sale.
Chris Campbell
Bill Hoehn’s 23066 without handle. Oscillator should be ball detent
Russ Huber
23xxx DC models are listed 15-16 manufacture. Electrical trade announces the carry handles 17 season. It sure is looking strong Emerson started implementing the carry handles starting in 16. Both are 23066 DC models

There was a post with the Emerson catalogues where they mention the Benjamin plugs. I'd say most of this era had them. A correct restoration would probably need them. Chris Campbell
23048 with handle. Before the leading 23066 assumed only 16” would have handle. The 23066 and likely 23046 adopted a handle at same time as 190xx series which is found both with and without Edited September 8, 2022 by Chris Campbell

Chris Campbell
Not visible, but DC fans through early 24 series had brass oilers in the front for oscillators and front/rear for yoke mount. 24 series oilers were replaced with a reserve chamber plus wick. Oil filled from top through flip up oil cup. Steve’s 27046 pic shows the reserve chamber with brass screw Edited September 9, 2022 by Chris Campbell

Michael Rathberger
I think Emerson kept the DC serial number in line by type. The 23066 that sold fits this theory especially in light of the fact the 23046 serial numbers are not close to the 23066 serial numbers. It's not my fan or I would post, I consider that the owners option to disclose

The 9" models didn't need them. They must have started implementing handles in mid or late season 16 on 12" and 16" models based on some of these fans that date before 17. Anthony Lindsey
I did not know DC current was still in use this late. I find this fact amazing if correct. I've talked about this in the past and the fact that all of downtown St. Louis had ONLY DC current, supplied by the plant next to the Eads bridge, until about 1970!
