Vic Valencheck Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 (edited) This is a fan that has a 12" steel blade. Runs in 3 distinct speeds. I repainted it in Dupli Detroit Alpine Green and Krylon Fusion Gloss Smoke Grey. I bought a grommet kit and speed switch from Rich Raclawski. Tony Clayton dyed me a piece of zip cord. I get some vibration but for a 12' blade it pushes a lot of air. On high it runs at 3 amps. f https://youtu.be/s00IfuktKsM Edited October 12, 2022 by Vic Valencheck 6 Quote

John McComas Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Looks great! With that much "fur" inside the motor housing, that 68 year old fan had a lot of air pass through it! Quote

Roger Lawson Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 I have one just like it. What's the secret to removing the blade? Quote

In the older Vornados with Bakelite blades, the factory would sometimes put two set screws in the blade hub. One on top of the other. I think that might have been because you can crack the hub by putting too much torque on the set screw. Use a flashlight to check. Happy Fanning! Quote

I ended up having to take the whole motor assembly off of the mounting brackets with the blade on. While holding the blade I used a punch on the end of the motor shaft. Just be careful not to bend the blade. There is only one set screw on the hub. Quote
