Aaron Gillette
Are there any suggestions on the best way to really polish aluminum fan blades to a mirror-like finish? I have seen photos of these, but my attempts are woefully inadequate.
Dave McManaman
Mothers mag wheel polish is a good start. How bad are they currently?
Trevor Andersen
Depends on how bad they are scratched up. If it really scratched you have to wet sand first 600grit to 3500. Then I wheel buff it with brown tripoli, green, red rouge. I finish with mothers mag or Simichrome and then hand buff with flitz faucet wax. Russ Huber
In a nutshell, if you want chrome like luster, a buffing wheel is a must.
Dave Hoatson
Some aluminum polishes well, and some does not. The best way to polish a blade is to remove the rivets, polish on a wheel, then re-rivet. Especially if the wings overlap.
Aaron Gillette
Hi, when you say, "If it really scratched you have to wet sand first 600grit to 3500," is that done by hand, or by a buffing wheel?
