Terry Plata
1948 Hunter Century Type C-12. Sloppy cord replacement with an old toaster pigtail probably because they figured the fan would likely burst into flames. Three wire head is black, red and blue with what appears to be a nichrome wirewound resistor with taps for speed selections. Motor hums and tries to run, sometimes in reverse. I suspect the wiring is all wrong and possibly had a start capacitor at one time. Appreciate any help in correcting wiring problem. Anyone have a schematic or hand drawn diagram? Thanks! Mark Olson
Mr. Terry, I am not picturing what you have there. Why do you think it may have had a capacitor (not saying it didn't)? Can you post any pictures of what you have, especially the speed control, resistor, and motor? We may need to take some measurements with a meter. Have you considered joining AFCA?
