Tim Babcock
The Base is an Emerson 29646 and the broken part is the one ear. My welder is a wire welder. Not a high end anything just a wire welder.
Doug Wendel
I've used a 110V wire-feed MIG welder to repair cast iron parts with good success on many occasions.
Russ Huber
FWIW... I have had a buddy of mine mig (wire) weld a few cast iron base repairs for me without failure. The thing to be cautious of is heating up the cast iron and a fast cool down. It needs to gradually/slowly cool down or the risk of cracking is increased. David Kilnapp
There is a young man in the AFCA (Ben Guegain?) who knows Dan O'Toole and might be near him in Texas who does amazing work on cast iron welding. He put back together my Emerson 1500 after I destroyed the case trying to get the stator out of it. Steve Sherwood
A base for a 29646 should be easy to find. I have several.
