Happy New Year Fan Friends!

This morning my R & M Lollipop (below) started smoking (not a good thing) so I put it on my workbench and opened it up to see what the issue was.

The bakelite piece that the brushes were attached to had broken in half. The original design is seen below (before it broke).

Some time ago, anticipating that this piece would have to be replaced/repaired, Darryl Hudson sent me a replacement for this arrangement which is much stronger and much better (in my opinion).

The brushes are held in a slot under the square brass pieces and there are springs attached that push against the part of the brass that is folded over. I attached  Tony Clayton's marvelous two conductor wire as see below:

I put it back together and it ran perfectly well. I would recommend this replacement arrangement to other lollipop owners. Darryl Hudson is so clever!
